Troop 282 Purchases New Trailer

Through the generosity of an anonymous benefactor, Troop 282 was able to purchase a new troop trailer.

The new trailer is a 12' X 6' aluminum Hallmark which arrived in June. The art work was designed for the side and we received the trailer with artwork the night before the Parktacular Parade. Driver Terry Gemilere stated that there were a lot of "Ooo's" and "Ahh's" heard during the parade. The artwork was a big hit.

Plans for the interior shelving units were developed. A group of scouts converged on Assistant Scoutmaster Terry Gemilere's home and had the shelves installed in about three hours. The camping trip to Baylor Park will be the first of many camp outings this new trailer will see.

Zach Conati who was planning the shelving unit at the front of the trailer said, "I never thought I would use calculus outside the classroom."

Nine New Scouts Earn Their
Firem'n Chit and Totin Chip

Nine of Troop 282's newest members camped with our senior scouts at Camp Fred C Anderson.

During the weekend, they learned the fine arts of building campfires and how to safely use an axe and camp saw. Scouts earned their Firem'n Chit and Totin Chip cards; the first of many Scouting skills they will learn during their scouting career.

All nine scouts came to the troop from Cub Scout Packs 225 and 379 where they earned the Arrow of Light. Welcome aboard.

Madeline Island Camping

Another great camp outing. The troop took a trip to Madeline Island where the Scouts got to camp, swim, kayak, and hike Madeline Island. Madeline Island is the largest in the Apostle Island chain.

The Scouts also got to spend some time in town and enjoyed a round of Putt-Putt golf. The water was perfect for swimming and late night found the Scouts star-gazing at the beach. No clouds were seen. We were hoping for Northern Lights but none of the ghostly figures appeared.
